Australia’s oldest continuously operating Indigenous Art Centre, Ernabella Arts, has recently announced a new collaboration with lifestyle brand Kip&Co. This partnership brings together seven talented artists to create a collection that celebrates culture, community, and creativity. The vibrant designs and spirited approach to homewares by Kip&Co align perfectly with the artistry showcased in this collaboration.
This collaboration marks Kip&Co’s second partnership with Ernabella Arts, following the success of their initial collection in 2023. The positive response to their first collaboration highlighted the growing demand for products that carry deeper meaning and purpose. The bond between Kip&Co and the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands has strengthened through this collaboration, allowing for a continued celebration of the talents within this special group.
Developed over two years, the new collection reflects a commitment to ethical and meaningful partnerships. Each piece in the collection honors the craftsmanship, cultural heritage, and creativity of the Ernabella Arts artists, showcasing their ancestral stories and deep connection to the land. The collaboration is not just about creating beautiful products; it is also about supporting the community and preserving culture.
Kate Heppell, the co-founder of Kip&Co, expressed her pride and excitement in revealing the new collection. She emphasized the importance of shooting the campaign on country, showcasing the artworks in the environments that inspired them. This approach not only adds authenticity to the collection but also highlights the significance of the collaboration in bridging creativity and cultural heritage.
The Kip&Co x Ernabella Arts collection features a diverse range of products, including bath robes, towels, organic cotton bedding, table linens, and sleepwear. The vibrant designs, rich colors, and evocative patterns are intended to inspire and connect with individuals, making them suitable for various living spaces and gifting occasions.
The seven featured artists—Alison Lionel, Carlene Thompson, Langaliki Lewis, Lynette Lewis, Malpiya Davey, Michelle Lewis, and Rupert Jack—bring their unique perspectives and artistic interpretations to the collection. Their works reflect the spirit of their country and culture, offering a glimpse into the rich storytelling traditions of the Ernabella Arts community.
Furthermore, 50% of all profits from this collaboration directly benefit Ernabella Arts, supporting the Pukatja Community in South Australia. This commitment to ethical practices underscores the shared values of Kip&Co and Ernabella Arts in promoting community well-being and cultural preservation.
The Kip&Co x Ernabella Arts collection was officially launched on April 22nd and is available online as well as at select stockists. This collaboration not only showcases the talents of Indigenous artists but also serves as a testament to the power of creative partnerships in fostering cultural exchange and mutual respect.
