Catalano Interiors has expanded its presence in Melbourne by leasing a new showroom in Fairfield, marking its sixth local showroom in the city. The showroom, located at 160 Fulham Road, will not only serve as a display space but also house the company’s office headquarters, covering a total area of 5600 square meters.
The leasing agreement spans an initial six-year term with a starting rent of approximately $80 per square meter per annum. This move comes as the previous occupant, Melbourne Mailing, relocated to a larger warehouse in Somerton, leaving the prime location available for Catalano Interiors.
NSL Property Group director, Guy Naselli, highlighted the significance of the deal, noting that the Fairfield property represents one of the most substantial transactions in the city fringe area post-COVID. He emphasized that the location and features of the showroom align perfectly with Catalano Interiors’ needs as a furniture retailer.
Heath Bedford of HRB & Co, the tenant’s representative, expressed satisfaction with securing the ideal premises that meet all requirements for the client’s future growth strategy. Bedford emphasized the importance of finding a solid base that supports the company’s expansion plans.
Established in the 1950s by Francesco Catalano, the business has evolved from a small workshop behind a Coburg home to a reputable furniture retail chain with multiple showrooms across Melbourne. The first retail store opened on Bell Street in Coburg two decades after its inception.
Fairfield, situated about six kilometers northeast of Melbourne, offers a strategic location for Catalano Interiors to cater to a diverse customer base. The Fulham Road showroom is in proximity to key distribution centers, underscoring its advantageous position within the retail landscape.
The showroom’s leasing signifies a strategic move for Catalano Interiors to strengthen its market presence and enhance customer accessibility.
